Why the old mix stops working after a holiday

A thicker rust layer and hard mill scale need more impact energy. A mix that was tuned before the holiday often leaves patches of scale behind, which means re-blasting, re-inspection, and lost hours.

Re-tuning by experience alone is slow. The variables are the workpiece material, the machine type, and the required surface profile — and changing any one of them changes the right ratio.

How intelligent grading works

Our intelligent graded abrasive system, developed in 2022 by an in-house PhD research team, takes three inputs:

• workpiece material
• shot blasting machine type
• required surface roughness

It then recommends the ratio of steel shot to steel grit for that job, and keeps the particle size distribution consistent from batch to batch.

2. Check batch consistency before mixing old and new stock, since hardness and particle size variation shows up directly in surface quality.
